Why a pun site publishes tech
MrPuns is a site about words. Puns make words do two jobs at once; language models are machines built to predict the next one. Somewhere between the two, we started explaining AI and the technology around it — plainly, accurately, and without the hype. Our Tech & AI section is edited by Theo Marsh, and it's where guest contributors are published.
If you can explain something technical so that a smart non-specialist understands it — and enjoys reading it — we'd like to hear from you.
Every post is filed under one of four topics — AI, explained, Using AI well, Words & machines, Internet literacy, Tool reviews, Website reviews — so it sits beside related guides rather than in a general blog, and links out from the ones that cite it.
What we'd love to publish
- How AI actually works — tokens, embeddings, RAG, agents, evaluation, explained without hand-waving
- Using AI tools well — prompting, workflows, and honest accounts of where tools help and where they don't
- AI and language — writing, translation, humour, creativity, and what models get wrong about words
- Developer tools and workflows — practical, tested, with your own examples
- Web safety, privacy and security basics — for people who aren't security engineers
- Software and SaaS, reviewed honestly — including the parts the landing page leaves out
- Website and publication reviews — who runs it, what it publishes, and what can be verified, following how we review
What we won't publish
- Articles written by an AI with a human name attached
- Thin listicles, keyword-stuffed "ultimate guides", or rewrites of articles that already exist
- Crypto price predictions, investment promotion, gambling, adult content or miracle health products
- Anything that exists mainly to hold a link
Our editorial standards
- Original. Not published anywhere else, including your own blog.
- Experienced. First-hand knowledge beats a summary of other people's articles every time.
- Plain English. Explain jargon the first time you use it — our AI glossary shows the level we aim for.
- Sourced. Every factual claim links to where it came from, so our editor can check it.
- Readable. Short paragraphs, real examples, your own screenshots where they help. A pun is optional; clarity isn't.
Links
You can include a link to your own site in your author bio, and relevant links in the body wherever they genuinely help the reader. We'll edit or remove any that don't. Sponsored posts are labelled as sponsored, and their links carry rel="sponsored" in line with Google's guidelines — it keeps the site trustworthy, which is the whole reason a link here is worth having.
How it works
- Pitch a working title, a three-to-five point outline and two writing samples, using the form below.
- We reply within five working days — yes, even if it's a no.
- Write the draft in Google Docs or Markdown and share it with us.
- Edit. Theo reviews it for accuracy, clarity and sources. Expect questions.
- Publish with your byline, bio and photo, and a link you can share.

Questions contributors ask
Do you accept sponsored posts?
Yes. They're labelled as sponsored at the top of the article and on every listing, and their links carry rel="sponsored". The editorial bar is exactly the same as for any other post.
Can I use AI tools to help write my post?
For research, outlining and a final proofread, yes — just tell us how you used them. The article itself has to be written, and fact-checked, by you. Given what the section covers, we'd be embarrassed otherwise.
Do you publish guest puns or humour pieces?
Occasionally, if they're original. Every pun on the site is written by a person, and we'd like to keep it that way.
How long does it take to publish?
Usually two to three weeks from an accepted draft, depending on how much editing it needs.
Will you change my article?
Almost certainly a little. We edit for clarity, accuracy and house style, and we'll send you the edited version to approve before anything goes live.
