What is a pun?
A pun is a joke that uses one word or sound to carry two meanings at once — either because the word has more than one sense ("a stable relationship", said about a horse) or because it sounds like a different word ("neigh" for "nay"). The listener reads the obvious meaning first, notices the hidden one a beat later, and groans. That groan is the joke landing.
